In the past year or so, you've heard and read about Airship for Casinos. While this is a very important market for us, it is not the only market that we hope to help. How about... Retail?
A new distributor in the midwest has connections with many retail chains and other similar businesses. Their input to us while they are learning to use Airship centers around a pair of issues.
Casinos and other large entertainment venues tend to have live monitoring and review history to gather incident information or keep track of legally mandated evidence of gaming wins and losses. This differs greatly from Retail and other markets, where there is little or no live monitoring and the most important thing to the user is the ability to review alarms and then find video if necessary. In short, Casino Surveillance Operators demand full features and user interface performance, while Retail Security and/or Surveillance Operators demand ease of use and a streamlined workflow.
Two points of view, seemingly at odds.
We think we can do both, exceptionally well. The ease of use and streamlining needed by the once-a-day user in Retail can easily be applied to the constant use scenario of live monitoring and review. In some cases, a user's workstation might have a user interface which immediately opens to the primary report that they want to see every day. For example, a timeline of the past several days with clear indications of motion detection and other alarms. In other cases, the UI might open directly to the set of live views a particular user needs to be concerned with, and at given times of day might automagically switch to another set of live views, such as during soft count or money safe transfers. This sort of thoughtful streamlining helps the operator get what they want, when they want it. With thoughtful administrative oversight, this can also help operators not make simple mistakes or forget an important daily event.
These features are on our mind as we talk with our new potential customers and learn how they deal with security and surveillance.
